HOMEWORLD REMASTERED COLLECTION TRAILER FOR FREE
Those who pre-purchase the game on Steam will get Homeworld Remastered Collection for free (or a discount on Deserts of Kharak if you already own the Remastered Collection). Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak will be released on Januon PC. So far the only mode that’s been detailed is ranked, as you can become the “most powerful Fleet Captain on Kharak”, but more announcements shouldn’t be too far off so we’ll keep you posted.
That said, if Homeworld: Desert of Kharak‘s single player story doesn’t prove thrilling enough then you can also take part in online multiplayer which offers “a variety of game modes”. Your decisions – whether you attack the military head on or take down resources first, as well as how you manage resources and prioritise technology research – all have a great impact too. This wouldn’t be a Homeworld game unless it was backed up by some terrific combat and Blackbird and Gearbox say that fans will be able to command entire fleets in air and on land, “from nimble light attack vehicles to massive heavyweight cruisers” across “massive dune seas, deep craters, and hostile canyons in sprawling maps”. The game’s Steam page also explains that “the story is not that simple” so don’t expect this to be over after a few cutscenes. It’s Rachel’s job to lead an expedition from the Coalition of the Northern Kiithid “deep within enemy-controlled territory” in order to check out this anomaly and there are high stakes too as it could “forever alter the fate of humanity”. There’s hope though, as something called the ‘primary anomaly’ has been discovered, and that’s where our lead character Rachel S’jet comes in. The planet is “dying” and is on the brink of being completely taken over by desert but if that doesn’t kill everyone then the ongoing world war will.
